The following table lists the names of the Republic of India in each of the twenty-three constitutionally-recognised languages listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India[1]. Hindi and English (listed in boldface) are the languages used by the Union Government for official work.[2] Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu are officially classical languages of India.
