What is the likely sentencing for first time theft in dwelling offender in Singapore ?
Q. My friend has just been arrested for theft in a shop (theft in dwelling) . The value of the stolen item is approx SGD50.00. He is currently out on police bail pending police investigation. Can anyone tell me what is the likely sentence he will face ? He is a first offender.

A. Under section 380 of Penal code, whoever commits theft in dwelling-house, etc. shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to fine. Of course, the likely sentencing will depend on many other fatcors too. Such as his age, any other criminal records and etc. Some students whose got catch even got off with only warning for first timer. However, in general, it's won't be more than a year imprisonment for first offender.

What is the mininum distance (feet) from a well to a dwelling that a house can get sprayed for termites?
Q. Recently a man came out to inspect our house for termites. Some evidence of same was discovered toward the rear of the dwelling: a single point. The house is only four years old, but it is located in the woods, which is a natural haven for these little critters. He said he couldn't spray the perimeter of the house for termites, because our well was too close to the dwelling. He cited state law, but gave no reference number to check out same. My questions are (1) What is the minimum distance. (2) under what code could I find this? The closest point to the well is 48 ft. away and that point is on a corner of the dwelling, so it is not like the entire house is close to the well. A. Don't waste your time or money. You can't kill termites with spray. You have to use 100 gallons or more that an exterminator pushes a rod in the ground to get the chemical to get to the footer of the house and on the inside of the house. Do you really want to drink pesticides? The best chemical for termites is Termidor. Go and search on google for (Termidor label) and read the label and if you want read the MSDS sheet also. You will kind of get a better idea why exterminators are afraid to use chemicals around wells and streams. (BIG FINE) I have customers that try and do it themselves, fail, then try the 1/3 cost treatment and of course that fails cause you can't use the good stuff anymore the stuff that lasted for 30 yrs or more. Maximum allowable temperature in a multiple unit dwelling?
Q. I'm curious about whether or not there's a maximum allowable temperature in a multiple unit dwelling (apartment). It's a steady 80 degrees in my apartment and that's way too hot. I obviously do not control my heat. If anyone could point me to a health code, etc., which speaks to this, I'd appreciate it. I live in NJ.

A. At school lived in a dorm. The campus had a coal fired power plant that also supplied the rooms with the waste steam. Our room had heat on all the time. It came one one day in the fall and turned off in the spring (did not matter what the temp was outside), we opened the window and wrapped the radiator with aluminum foil. On the plus side we could make smores in there. We tried other foods but only did smores well.
